How to transfer shares from Issuer to CHESS

What are Issuer sponsored shares and how do I know if I have them?

Shares are Issuer sponsored when they are not sponsored by a broker under a Holder Identification Number (HIN). Instead, they are registered under a Shareholder Reference Number (SRN).

Transferring Issuer sponsored shares from a share registry to your CHESS sponsored Westpac Share trading account has been made simple by our online transfer tool.

Why should I transfer my Issuer shares to Westpac?

The benefits of having all your shares consolidated under your Westpac Share trading account are:

  • View all your investments through one account.
  • Ease during tax time as your entire portfolio is captured in a consolidated tax summary.
  • You only need to remember one login and password and have one customer contact point.

Before proceeding, please ensure the following criteria has been satisfied:

  • Confirm your shares are Issuer sponsored and have a valid Shareholder Reference Number (SRN)
  • The Issuer sponsored shares are under the exact same account structure, name, and address as reflected on your Westpac Share Trading account. If your account structure, name and/or address differs even the slightest, your request will be rejected. If this is the case, please update the differing details with the share registry before proceeding. If your account structure is different, please refer to our FAQs on alternate ways of transferring shares.
  • Your shares must have a minimum marketable value of $500.

How to create a transfer request

  1. Select My Account > Holdings & Accounts and click on the Transfers tab.
