What are trading alerts?

Westpac Share Trading alerts keep you informed, wherever you happen to be. You can enjoy the benefits of free and unlimited alerts which help you watch the market, capture potential trading opportunities in the market and make informed trading decisions.

Our Westpac Share Trading alerts service allows you to access customisable information at your fingertips via smartphone push notifications or emails set up through the website.

Alerts you can choose from:

Price alert

Receive an alert when the share price reaches a specified value. You can use this alert type to track changes in price for individual shares.

Volume alert

Receive an alert when the trading volume for a share crosses a specific threshold. You can use this alert to track changes in trading volume for individual shares.

Market sensitive announcements

Receive recurring alerts whenever a company releases a market sensitive announcement. Use this alert to stay on top of news that could affect your investments.

Share goes ex-dividend

Receive an alert when a share’s ex-dividend date is approaching. If you own this share at the close of business the night before the ex-dividend date you will be eligible for the upcoming dividend payment. Use this alert to stay informed of approaching dividend deadlines when making time-sensitive decisions.

How to set up an alert?

Log in via the website and select Watchlists > Alerts > View Alerts.
Click ‘Create’ to set up a new alert. In the search box, type your desired company name/code you wish to monitor.
Select from the five different types of alerts – Price Rises Above, Price Falls Below, Volume Rises Above, Market Sensitive Announcements or Share Goes Ex-Dividend.
After selecting the alert type, a small description of the specific alert is provided.
You must enter a trigger price or trigger value, then select the notification delivery method before clicking ‘add Alert’ to activate your alert.
Alerts can be received via push notifications on your smartphone and via email. Email notifications will be delivered to your preferred email address, which can be found under My Account > My Profile > Personal Details.
When selecting push notification, please ensure that you have the latest Westpac Share Trading app installed on your smartphone and notifications enabled.
Once you receive the notification, that alert will expire and you will be able to view it in the ‘History’ tab.
If you would like to edit or remove an alert, click the ‘Manage’ tab.

Set up smartphone push notifications alerts:

Download the latest version of the Westpac Share Trading Mobile App from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Log in to the app using your existing Westpac Share Trading log in details.
Go to ‘More’ and click ‘Alerts’ to get started.
