Purchase Price Explained

When you check the purchase price of your holdings, the total calculation will factor in brokerage and any other applicable costs which may account for a higher purchase price reflected on your account.

All costs are recorded on your confirmations. This includes all the details of the trade transaction such as unit price, consideration amount, brokerage, and GST.

Your Westpac Share Trading portfolio will reflect your CHESS holdings or Issuer holdings (if you have manually added them in).

CHESS holdings: shows the average purchase price inclusive of brokerage and GST at which the shares were bought at the time of purchase or acquiring a new holding.

The purchase price is not automatically updated for sales, transfers in/out or movements related to corporate actions or reversals.

You can manually amend the purchase price by selecting ‘Edit’ under the Holdings tab (My Account > My Portfolio > Holdings & Accounts). This will allow you to modify the price displayed in your portfolio.

The purchase price calculation is:

Issuer holdings: the purchase price for issuer sponsored holdings is not automatically calculated on the website, so it must be entered manually and maintained by you.
